South Side girl hit by car

A girl reportedly received only minor injuries when she was struck Monday night by a car on Pennsylvania Avenue.

According to New Castle police, the girl was riding her bicycle just after 6:30 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue near Denver Street when she was struck by a black Pontiac Aztek that was northbound on Pennsylvania.

Three youths who said they saw the accident from their clubhouse about a block away identified the girl as Ashia Holloway. Police confirmed her identification, but did not have her age or address. She is believed to be about 11, and a resident of the South Side neighborhood where she was hit.

She was taken by Noga Ambulance for Jameson Hospital for what were believed to be minor injuries.

She was not wearing a helmet.

The driver’s name was not available Monday night. Police said the investigation is continuing.
