Stabbing case heads to court

New Castle News

Charges against a South Side woman accused of stabbing a neighbor have been waived to court.

Mikyia Diefenderfer, 22, of 420 Waldo St., is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another, simple assault and harassment.

District Judge Jennifer Nicholson Thursday reduced Diefenderfer’s bond to $15,000 with the condition that she not return to 420 or 420 1/2 Waldo St. or have contact with residents of either household.

According to court documents, New Castle police were called to a disturbance in the 400 block of Waldo Street at 2 a.m. June 25.

Officers said they arrived to discover a man, who had been stabbed on the lower left side of his chest, lying in the grass in front of 422 Waldo St. Police said Diefenderfer admitted to stabbing the victim.

She and others told police of a disturbance in the area that began with an argument and progressed to a fist fight involving several people.

Police were told the stabbing victim allegedly pushed people off a front porch, then began wielding a baseball bat with which he allegedly struck Diefenderfer in the back of the head.

Police were told the victim was stabled shortly after that, with a knife that had been lying on the porch.
